Anambra State Keke riders association has made a Passionate appeal to Gov. Chukwuma Soludo to look into the welfare of their members and help them noting that apart from intimidation and forceful extortion the association members suffer on the hands of IGR collectors that their members are not considered in the government health welfare schemes which they are  supposed to be one of the key beneficiaries.

Making this appeal while speaking to newsmen on fact finding on the condition of Keke operators and its operation in major cities in Anambra, Mr. Vincent Okpani AKA Coach, Anambra Central Chairman Keke riders association Flanked by Mr. Simon Agbo, Chair Nkpor Junction Unit Idemili North LGA said they are appealing to Gov. Soludo who had earlier promised them that he will look into their welfare with a view to addressing it to as a matter of urgency come to their aid and address the highhandedness of IGR collection agents on them as it concern the insistence of IGR collectors to collect revenue on their keke when they go for maintenance, accident, sickness and other genuine complaints which showed that they are off the goad.

He said that, “we are often taken aback on the harsh and cruel way these IGR workers treat us, they often see us as their enemies despite that most of us pay government approved levies.

Take for instance if a keke driver is sick and goes to hospital for an admission or has a serious injuries through an accident and stays in the hospital for a time, immediately he comes out these IGR workers will force that person to still pays for the period he stays in the hospital or that person keke will be ceased until that payment is made.

While praising Gov. Soludo for his compassion and reforms to ensure that keke riding is given a facelift in the state as well as his good governance which has impacted positively in every parts of the state so far, Okpani Further appealed to him to Float a Central keke riders union in the state to replace the old one which was disbanded by the state government stressing that the Union if urgently Floated by the governor to include all genuine keke riders in every part of the state will help members to articulate their problems to the government for the government to look at them and address all of them.
